The summer of 2025 in Strasbourg, France, has been exceptionally hot compared to last year. According to Météo-France, this June was the second hottest June since 1900. In the midst of this heat, the annual Bastille Day (Fête Nationale) fireworks once again lit up the skies of Strasbourg.

Did you know that this is actually the only large-scale fireworks display you can see in the city center of Strasbourg? It’s a special night not only for visitors but also for locals. 

On the day of the event, the weather shifted dramatically from recent sunny days to heavy, intermittent rain and gloomy skies. But as if by magic, the rain stopped just before the show began, leaving behind a calm and pleasant evening. 

Fireworks in Strasbourg 2025

This year’s show combined fireworks and a spectacular drone performance—just like last year, but with even greater precision. An impressive fleet of 480 drones created vivid images in the night sky.

While last year’s theme celebrated the Paris Olympics, this year’s design paid tribute to the very essence of Strasbourg itself. The choreography of lights was breathtaking, and for the first time, background music accompanied the show, syncing perfectly with the visuals and making the experience even more dramatic. The fireworks finale was simply stunning, painting the summer sky with dazzling colors.

When Bastille Day ends, France officially enters its holiday season 

Lately, the historic center of Strasbourg has been buzzing with tourists enjoying the good weather. Many of my climbing friends have already headed off on their own summer adventures, and while I miss them, this is just part of life in France at this time of year.
