Immerse yourself in the magic 🤶🏻🎅🏻🇫🇷 Ultimate Guide to the Strasbourg Christmas Market!

Strasbourg's Christmas markets are centered around its beautiful old town, where the magic of a great Christmas is spread. On this page, I would like to share some personal recommendations and Christmas market routes for those who plan to visit the Strasbourg Christmas Market.

First of all, the 2023 Strasbourg Christmas Market will take place in 11 locations around the Old Town, with more than 300 chalets (stalls).

* Place Kléber

* Place de la Cathédrale

* Place du Château

* Sur la terrasse du Palais Rohan

* Place du Marché-aux-Poissons

* Place Broglie

* Place du Temple Neuf

* Place Saint-Thomas

* Square Louise-Weiss

* Place Benjamin Zix

* Place Grimmeissen - le Marché OFF de Strasbourg

With so many locations, you may be wondering where to go, but don't worry 🙄 Follow my recommended tourist models and you can have a great Christmas experience 🤔 You can... You may  🙄

1. Around the "Place Kléber" and the "la Cathédrale de Strasbourg"

The places to visit are Place Kléber and the area around Strasbourg Cathedral. Place Kléber is decorated with a huge Christmas tree, the symbol of the Strasbourg Christmas Market. The area around Strasbourg Cathedral is lined with many chalets (food stalls) and the Christmas atmosphere is at its best. A visit to the cathedral is also recommended to see the tapestry, which is only on display during the Christmas season.

🎄 Le Grand Sapin de Strasbourg

In 2023, the Christmas tree on Place Kléber will start flashing its lights every hour (16h, 17h, 18h, 19h, 20h, 21h) from 16:00, accompanied by music. These flashing lights start without warning, so if you happen to be in Place Kléber, be sure to check the schedule and enjoy the Christmas tree lights. ✍🏻 The lights will also flash at 22h & 23h, but no music will be played.

2. the gate of the Strasbourg Capitale de Noël

Next, a visit to the Gates of Strasbourg Capitale de Noël is also recommended. This arched gate is a welcome stop for those arriving in Strasbourg by coach for the upcoming Christmas market. If you arrive by train, you will see the gate after passing Place Kléber and the cathedral area, which may be a bit disconcerting, but it is a great photo opportunity.

3. Place Broglie

Place Broglie has hosted the Christmas market since 1871, and from 2021, the number of chalets (stalls) will be reduced to allow visitors to enjoy the market more slowly. The Hermès store in Strasbourg has moved to a new location opposite Place de Broglie (2022), so you can also enjoy the Hermès Orange Advent Calendar.

4. around Petite France

Last but not least, visit Petite France. Unlike the Cathedral area, the Christmas markets around Petite France are quieter and more atmospheric, with the Square Louise-Weiss offering local goods and the atmosphere of a small Christmas market in an Alsatian village. The square Louise-Weiss sells local goods and has the atmosphere of a small Christmas market in an Alsatian village.
